Belarus 1944 - During the period May 1-10th and July 1-10th each year, contact Belarus stations. The award commemorates the liberation of Byelorussia (now known as Republic of Belarus) in World War II. Contacts with EV prefixes = 10 points, EU and EW prefixes = 3 points. Contacts with veterans of liberation of Byelorussia from CIS countries (ex Russia, Ukraine and others) = 10 points. For other continent multiplier = 3. Repeat contacts are allowed on different bands. You need to earn the number of points as represented by subtracting 1944 from the current year. For example, in 1999, you will need 55 points.

On March 8th of every year, you can make only 2 YL contacts. Contacts with same station on different bands are OK.

Available for amateurs and SWL's. For Europeans - contact stations in 25 different river and lake islands on territory Republic of Belarus. For stations in all other continents - 15 QSO's. Small endorsement plates are available for the 50, 75, 100 and 150 islands. Contacts after 01.01.1994. All bands and modes. Cross-band, repeater, satellite or other relay methods are NOT permitted. New award added to the series offered by the Distant Countries Radio Club.  You must contact 10 different countries whose official ITU prefix begins with the letter "E". 

E Countries: E3, EA, EA6, EA8, EA9, El, EK, EL, EP, ER, ES, ET, EU, EX, EY, EZ.

Islands of the West Dvina River Award

Contact stations on 4 different island locations on the West Dvina river on 3.5-28 MHz on CW only, SSB only or MIXED modes since 1 January 1998.  Look for activity every weekend during the summer months by an active group.  GCR lit and fee of $US3 (6 IRCs) for Belarus stations, fee for CIS countries is $US4 (8 IRCs), and for all others the fee is $US5 (10 IRCs).  Apply to: Yuri Kazakevich EW6BN, PO Box 61, Novopolotsk-6, 211440 Belarus.
