Rostov Regional District Award (RRDA)

Issued by the Rostov-on-Don radioamateurs to amateurs and SWLs who work at least 25 different Rostov-on-Don districts. These districts are listed in the RDA award rules and on their QSL cards will show: RO-01 through RO-66. All bands, all modes, with contacts on or after 12 June 1991. Awarded for making contacts from listed castles and fortresses of Russia on or after 1 January 2006 on all bands and modes. The contacts must have been made from stations operating within a radius of not more than one Kilometer of the castle and be located on territory of the Russian Federation. The sponsor has prepared a list of valid castles and fortresses which is located on their website shown below. Each valid station may be contacted one time. SWL OK.

The basic award is issued for contacting 15 stations, and endorsement stickers are available for 30 and 45. A special plaque is awarded for contacting 60.

Award also available to stations who make at least 100 contacts from each valid castle. The basic award is for 5 and endorsement stickers available for 10 and 15, with a plaque for 20 or more. Those who plan to activate a new entity castle are asked to contact Igor Lisovsky UA1CEK at ua1cek@mail.ru to receive a tentative castle number.

The fee for the basic award is 100R for Russians, $US4 or 6 IRC for CIS country amateurs and $US7 or 10 IRC for all others. Endorsement fees are 30R for Russians, $US1.50 for CIS and $US2 for all others. Fee for the plaque is $US35 for Russians, $38 for CIS and $US42 for all others.

First Class: (GOLD) Using not less than 5 digital modes, earn a total of 250 points, with not less than 25 points for each such mode.

Contacts with the same station are permitted as long as they are on different bands and digital modes. Contacts with the same station may be used for all levels of the award.

The Russian Baltica Award has been instituted by Russian Robinson Club and will be issued to any amateur radio operator or SWL who can provide confirmation of contacts with (or reports from) Russia's Baltic Sea Islands. Islands and groups of islands qualifying for the award are listed below. There are three classes:

Class 1: 12 different islands
Class 2: 9 different islands
Class 3: 6 different islands

Class 1: 7 different islands
Class 2: 5 different islands
Class 3: 3 different islands

The application must be based on the received QSL cards and be signed by two licensed amateurs verifying that QSL cards for all contacts as listed have been seen. The RBA manager reserves the right to request any specific cards to satisfy any doubt whatsoever. Award fee is $US7 for each class certificate, IRCs are accepted as $0.60 each.

Contact stations on Russian Internal Islands (INTERNAL means - the islands have to be located on the rivers, lakes, reservoirs of Russia, BUT not to be a part of islands, valid for RRA (Russian Robinson Award). Contacts only since 1 July 2003.

Issued to any Ham Radio operator or SWL for QSOs with (or reports from) amateur radio stations operating from Russia's lighthouses. See website for complete list of valid lighthouses.

Application requires photocopies of QSLs. You may also email scans of the QSL cards to award manager. Award fee is US $7, IRCs are accepted as $0.60 each. Manager is RZ1QY or VE3LYC.

Complete list of valid bases may be found on their website. Only QSOs with Soviet/Russian Antarctic Bases count for the award. The application must be based on the received QSL cards photocopies of which must be sent along with the application. You may also email scans of the QSL cards to award manager. When applying for the Honour Roll Plaque, the original QSL cards have to be sent along with an application. The fee for each class of award is 7 EURO or 10 IRC. Fee for the plaque is $US42.

RUSSIAN AIRCRAFT MOBILE AWARD RRC

Awarded for contact with Russian aeronautical mobile, air and space mobile radio stations.

Award Classes:
3rd class: 2 qso;
2nd class: 4 qso, (1 must have been with a balloon or a space station.)
1st class: 6 qso, (1 must have been with a balloon or a space station)
Honour Roll: 10 (2 must have been with a balloon or a space station).

For the first three award classes, copies of the cards, by regular or e-mail must be sent. The manager reserves the right to ask for originals of any material. At the Honour Roll level it is necessary to send original of all QSLs.

This award was originated in 2001 honoring the 76th anniversary of the City of Shchyolkovo and 480th anniversary of the first mention about Shchyolkovo - the center of the Shchelkovo area of the Moscow region, a territory with the rich cultural heritage, the advanced industry and powerful scientific base.

The Smolensk Fortress Wall - 400 Anniversary Award

This award is offered by the Smolensk Oblast Club and will be issued to any amateur radio operator or swl for QSO's/SWL's with stations of the Smolensk oblast (R3L*, RA3-RZ3L*, U3L*, UA3L*, UE3L*) on or after 1 January 1996 using all bands and modes, including WARC.

Requirements:
EU stations must submit the proof of having contacted with 5 Smolensk oblast using any bands, or 1 on 1,8 Mhz band. Radio amateurs who work only CW, VHF or RTTY must submit the proof of having contacted with 1 radio station only of the Smolensk oblast.
DX stations must submit the proof of having contacted with 1 radio station of the Smolensk oblast.

QSO/SWL with U3LA and U3LI - The World War II veterans and special event stations with prefix RP3L**, UE3L**, R200MIG and RK1G - will count for 3 QSOs/SWL.

TU-16 is one of the best long-haul bombers in the world. 1,511 of these were produced from 1953 to 1964. The TU-16 was in use by the Soviet Air Force right up to the early 90s. TU-16 was exported to Egypt, Iraq, and Indonesia and also was reproduced in China (the CPR). The NATO designation was "Badger".

This award was developed to recognize the 100th anniversary of the birth of Alexander Kamalagin UA4IF. He was a HAM radio veteran since 1929; a famous contester, DXer and radio expert.
