AUSTRIA            — The FT8 Digital Mode Club Series (FT8-DMC)  --

The new digital mode starting in July 2017 is sweeping the world.  Several WWW Clubs specializing in digital modes have quickly added awards for this mode.  After looking at a few, this group seems to take a reasonable approach, and is aimed at the newcomer to FT8.   There is no fee for joining, and a major part of their work promises to make access to the mode possible through education. The awards mirror common themes such as working countries, continents, zones and states.  Ted 11/27/17

The FT8 Digital Mode Club (FT8-DMC) was founded 12.July 2017 by Jo Engelbrecht, OE4VIE and Hannes Grünsteidl, OE3SGU after recognizing a need for a club for FT8 users who would help newcomers and less-experienced operators to learn and improve this fantastic mode. Within only 2 days we added more than 100 members worldwide. Current membership a few months later is about 5000 members.   Everyone with a fascination of FT8 is welcome to join our club.

If you are interested in joining our group, the lifetime membership is FREE. Each new member will receive a certificate by email. Feel free to use our club logo on yours QSL, website, etc. To become a member just send an e-mail request with your full name and call sign to: oe4vie@gmail.com .

General Requirements:

In one of the most beautiful valleys of Carinthia, rises from nature, a 150 Meter high limestone rock, which can be seen from many surrounding mountains and hills. On this elevation, the castle Hochosterwitz, first mentioned in 860, was built, initially in the possession of King Ludwig the German.

Between the 11th and 12th centuries, the castle served as a haven for the population during the attacks of enemy hordes.  In 1541, Emperor Ferdinand transferred the liens to Christoph Khevenhüller, then governor of Carinthia.  After several years of ownership, the castle is again owned by the Khevenhüller family, who have made it their mission to pass on the castle from generation to generation.
